We know not everyone can make it to IndyCC, but if one of these reasons is keeping you from registering, we’d like for you to reconsider.
1. ‘It’s too expensive.’
The total cost of IndyCC is $299. And you’re right, that’s not an amount of money you should spend casually or without any thought. But please remember, if you register during the early bird period, you save $55, which means you are only paying $244. And if that’s still too much money for you, please know you can always approach a member of your movement’s staff and discuss your situation. They will be able to connect you with resources that could assist you in attending.
2. ‘I need to catch up on Netflix.’
There are few pleasures that match hours of binge-watching your favorite shows. But taking a four-day break will be healthy for you. Trust us.
3. ‘It’s too cold.’
Yes, Midwest winters are tough. But we have good news: You hardly ever have to go outside while you’re at IndyCC. All conference sessions are held in the JW marriott, where you will be staying. And a skywalk connects the hotel to a mall and a food court, where you can get food, supplies, or even fresh clothes for the New Year’s Eve party. In fact, the only time you really have to head outdoors during the conference is on our gospel-centered Day of Outreach.
4. ‘I’m only home for four weeks and I want to spend that time with friends and family.’
Here’s a suggestion: Invite your friends to come to Indy with you! Even if they don’t go to your school, they can accompany you and your Cru movement to the conference. And we know it’s worthwhile to see your family. We love that you love your family. But trust us, some space and separation is a healthy part of growing up. Attending IndyCC could be a great way for you to recharge and grow in your faith, and for you to develop a more mature way of relating to your family.
5. ‘I don’t like Indianapolis.’
Don’t like Indianapolis? That’s okay! Most of your time will be spent inside the JW Marriott, and who doesn’t love a 4-star hotel. Plus, your friends and Cru movement will be with you. To be honest, you probably won’t even remember you’re in Indianapolis while you’re at IndyCC – until you look out your window and see the Colts stadium.
6. ‘My dance moves are lame.’
It’s okay! Cru is a judgement-free community – a space where you’re free to bust out those moves that only you can do. If you’re a expert, go for it! If you’re not, that’s okay. Not into dancing? No worries! There are so many other things that go down at the New Year’s Eve party.
7. ‘My pet and I have separation anxiety.’
It’s hard to leave your furry friends when you go away for school. But if your pet truly loves you, he/she will let you live your life and go to a conference you will never forget. And if you’ve taught and trained them well in what the Bible teaches, they’ll forgive you for briefly leaving them.
8. ‘I don’t know anyone going, so I’ll have no one to room with.’
Have no fear! You are NOT the only one from your movement going, and you are NOT the only person who will be arriving without roommates prepared. We’ll have you covered. Our registration staff has created a space to help conference attendees find roommates. Who knows? You could make a great, lifelong friend during your four days together at the JW.
9. ‘I don’t belong in that kind of environment.’
Whether you are extroverted or not, a member of Cru or not, or a follower of Christ or not, there is a place for you to belong at IndyCC. Some spaces our conference spaces are quiet, and some are loud. Some are active and some are reflective. Our goal is to build a community and environment where all kinds of college students can grow grow in knowledge and love of Jesus Christ.
So if someone asks you “Why aren’t you coming to IndyCC?” feel free to answer with any number of excuses, but know that the nine listed above really are quite poor. If they’re keeping your from registering, we really wish you’d process your concerns with someone you trust and reconsider.
We’d love to see you at IndyCC!
